It’s that time of year again, and everyone is getting into the holiday spirit. Are you hosting family or friends for the holidays this year? Or are you just looking to bring a bit of Christmas cheer into your home? Either way, there are a few pieces of Christmas decor that you simply must add to your list.
Wreath for your Front Door
A festive holiday wreath on your front door sets the tone for visitors as soon as they come inside. There are lots of different takes on the classic Christmas wreath. You could go for a timeless evergreen look (both genuine and artificial boughs make great choices, but keep in mind that real trees do have a limited lifespan), complete with some string lights. Looking for something a bit more new and daring? You can DIY a ribbon wreath, or purchase one already made. We also love ornament wreaths– you can make these yourself by purchasing a foam wreath form and hot-gluing small Christmas ornaments all around it. The options are really only limited by your imagination.
Some people like to keep their outdoor decorating simple, while others love to go all out. There are decorating options for every budget and skill level. Not really feeling up to hanging lots of lights? You can purchase pre-lit lawn sculptures or inflatable Christmas characters. Really feeling the Christmas spirit? You can hang icicle lights, light your walkways, string lights in trees, and more.
Decorating for the holidays should appeal to all of your senses, not just your eyes. One way to really add that Christmas spirit to your home is to pick up some holiday-themed scented candles. We love cinnamon and evergreen scents because these will remind anyone of their favorite Christmases gone by.
This is the big one– it wouldn’t be Christmas without a tree in the corner. Your Christmas tree is as unique as you are, and it’s always fun to shake things up and try something new. It’s fun to set up small trees in several different rooms in your home. These make great projects for kids, as you can give each child their own age-appropriate tree and let them decorate it however they wish. You can also experiment with different colored trees– white trees are becoming more popular, and they make a great canvas for bright-colored ornaments and decor.
